What a Chart Shows vs. What Analysis Requires
Your kundli chart shows nine planets placed in twelve houses. That’s 9 data points. But the analysis of those 9 data points requires computing:
Dignity of each planet (exalted, debilitated, own sign, friend’s sign, enemy’s sign) — this alone changes the interpretation completely. Moon in the 4th house in Cancer (own sign) is a completely different reading from Moon in the 4th house in Scorpio (debilitated).
Aspects between planets — Vedic astrology uses different aspect rules from Western astrology. Jupiter aspects the 5th, 7th, and 9th houses from its position. Saturn aspects the 3rd, 7th, and 10th. These graded aspects create a web of planetary influence that no simple chart display captures.
Conjunctions and their effects — two planets in the same house create a combined effect that isn’t just the sum of individual interpretations. Jupiter conjunct Saturn produces a specific pattern different from Jupiter alone or Saturn alone.
House lordships — which planet rules which house for your specific Ascendant determines whether it’s functionally benefic or malefic. Mars ruling the 5th and 10th houses (Yogakaraka for Cancer Ascendant) is the best planet in the chart, not the malefic that generic descriptions warn about.
Divisional charts — the birth chart (D1) is one of sixteen charts. The Navamsha (D9) reveals marriage destiny. The Dashamsha (D10) reveals career specifics. The D7 reveals children. Ignoring divisional charts is like reading the table of contents and skipping the chapters.
Dasha timing — knowing that Jupiter is well-placed tells you WHAT is possible. Knowing that Jupiter Mahadasha runs from 2028-2044 tells you WHEN it manifests. Without dasha analysis, every prediction is timeless and therefore useless.
Shadbala — six types of planetary strength calculated numerically. A planet can be in a good house but have low Shadbala, meaning it’s structurally well-positioned but lacks the power to deliver. Ashtakavarga — a mathematical scoring system where each planet’s transit quality through each sign is pre-computed. This tells you which sectors of your chart are strong and which are weak, with numbers rather than opinions.
